We had a great Tombleson time exploring the beautiful city of Atlanta. It was so full of history and amazing sites.
Our hotel was just blocks away from Olympic Park.
All the main attractions were near the park so we hit them all up the first day.
We went to the Aquarium and it was so beautiful.
After the aquarium we headed over to tour CNN
After CNN we headed over to the World of Coca Cola
We saw the vault where they supposedly keep the secret recipe
Then we got to try a bunch of coke products from around the world
After all that we had dinner at the Sundial, a rotating restaurant on the 72nd floor of the Westin. The food was so good.
The next morning we ran our race which finished on the 50 yard line of the Georgia Dome. The weather was perfect for the race. We got medals, got to meet Freddie Falcon and got to throw around the football.
After the race we headed down to the Underground. It was so cool going down there and seeing a whole other world down there. Things frozen in time from the 1920's.
Coming out from the Underground led us right to Terminus. Only part of the building is still there.
There were also some beautiful old churches that survived when Atlant was burned during the Civil War.
We ended that long tired walk getting some moonshine at the Juke Joint.
Sunday was baseball day! We had read how scary it was walking to the field but since it was little under 2 miles to Turner Field we walked and there was nothing scary about it. It was almost a straight shot to the field.
Even though the Braves almost had it won before falling apart at the end we had a blast! And only thing that made me sad was that Grilli wasn't playing because of his injury.
Monday morning was another day of exploring. We headed over to the Martin Luther King District where we saw the church where MLK Jr went to church and where he preached.
This is the wagon that carried his coffin.
We also saw his Nobel Prize
We got to tour his childhood home
From there we walked down to the Oakland Cemetary
Then it was time for some FOOTBALL!
There was so many people when we left!
The Ferris wheel was lit up in Falcons colors in celebration of the win!
Our last day we decided to take it a little easy. We visited the Jimmy Carter Museum.
His high chair
Replica (with some actual artifacts) of his Oval Office.
We got to see another Nobel Peace Prize.
For our last night we had to go back to the Braves All Star Grill (our 3rd time)
After watching part of the games, having a couple of drinks and desert, we took one last walk around.
haaaa that picture where Jon and the penguin are staring at each other is cracking me up!
