Jon's Birthday Weekend Extravaganza

Jon's Birthday Weekend Extravaganza started on Thursday when my mom made him a Guatemalan dish (stuffed chicken). There was cake and Jon scored some cool camping/picnic stuff and a Wii U game.

On Friday we headed downtown to The Bite where we tried all kinds of good foods. Sliders, nachos, pizza, hush puppies, prawn poppers, ciders, liquors and a crepe. We also scored some nice free samples.

Saturday the fun continued with a hike at Lewis and Clark State Park. We went a mile up and back on this really steep trail then we decided try and find the less steep trail. It was a really nice hike and Annabel had a blast.

Then it was time for the main event, camping at Stub Stewart State Park. It was my first time there. It was a really nice camp site with a little of everything, hiking, disc golf, horse back riding, biking.

After an exhausting weekend we are all ready for a nap!

Going Back East

We had a lot of fun on a trip to Eastern Oregon. We started out by heading over to the old farm where Jon's Grandma grew up which is currently still in the Gilliland Family. It has been in the family for 105 years. It was pretty amazing with lots of history. Jon's family was so kind to take us on a tour.

Here is the school his grandma went to

It was so peaceful on the farm!

We also went to the Irrigon watermelon festival.

Where Jon did his best Merryweather Lewis impression

We also went to the fish ladder where Jon was almost eaten by a fish

We went up to see Hat Rock

The next day we went up to see some Oregon Trail ruts and views

We also finally got to do the Pendleton underground tour which was pretty cool

It took us to an underground saloon

A Chinese laundry

An underground butcher

We saw prohibition era card rooms

And we can't forget The Cozy Rooms where the working girls worked

We saw the Chinese prisons, opium dens and living quarters

We had a great time and some great meals! But we missed Annabel so we had to come home :)
