Exploring our Roots

This weekend we took advantage of the rain to go indoors and explore our Oregon roots by hitting up a couple of museums in Oregon City.

We first hit up the Museum of Oregon Territory and saw some pretty cool Native American artifacts and some old pioneer items.

We saw this amazing pharmacy display that contained many old medicines, medical equipment and prescriptions.

There was a window with a great view of the oldest PGE electric sites.

Oregon also holds the original Plat of San Francisco which was filed in Oregon City which was the closest place for them to file to be a city at the time.

We made a pit stop at the Highland Stillhouse and I had a yummy steak and mushroom pie.

We then headed to the end of the Oregon Trail. There were a lot of neat things to see as well as some hands on things. I got to walk around in an Oregon Boot, make a doll and make a journal.

The funnest part was probably dressing up in old pioneer clothes. We had a blast doing that.

We had a great time learning more about our ancestors who came over the Oregon Trail to make their homes in Oregon.
